A few weeks ago in my Cultural Anthropology class, my professor started her lecture with a question: What is marriage? The forty- something students in the classroom stared blankly at her, texted, or looked away to escape her eye contact which was filled with sheer disappointment after about a minute or two of silence. Finally someone blurted “LOVE. Marriage is when you’re in love.”

Viva Mexico

In a few hours I will board a flight to Mexico, where I will be spending 10 days. Through Mission Youth Network I will participate in Holy Week Missions 2008 near Guadalajara.

Livin’ in Graffiti Artist’s Paradise

After watching the NYTimes online video of street artists “bombing” Berlin [otherwise known as art vandalism in other countries] I was inspired to share it with all of you.

On February 26, Yahoo!News posted an online article that illegal immigrants are “far less likely than the average U.S.-born citizen to commit crime in California, the most populous state in the United States, according to a report issued late on Monday.” The entirety of the article was to persuade readers that illegal immigrants are not the ones causing crime in the state of California, which might as well be the rest of our country. For lack of a better term, DUH!

Update

Time has been flying by in every essence of the cliché. I promise I will complete a post about some ridiculous happenings in the media VERY soon. Also, whenever possible listen to any song ever made by James Brown, and chill for a while.

Oh, happy day!

I wanted to wish everyone a Happy Valentine’s Day! I know I will be indulging in chocolate, Bobby Darin songs, and going to see Step Up 2 with my sister. Try not to get too discouraged if you are alone this Valentine’s. It’s really a celebration of love, so treat yourself to something today!

Is it God OR Country or God AND Country?

In my World Government Economy & Culture class, we have been discussing the range of first to fourth world countries. We watched a terribly snowy VHS tape recording of the TV program “60 Minutes” that really intrigued me. Wedged between China and India among the Himalayan Mountain Range, is the country of Bhutan.

Vote or Die

For all those 18+ people in this country, an enormous responsibility comes to vote for the next Presidential election. This race of candidates has been intense, and a lot of unexpected twists have come about. I know there are a handful of people who are still confused about who thinks what, and who is worth voting for.

Kate Nash, a most talented British musician, has recently signed with the Geffen label and released her first indie/pop album Made of Bricks. I first downloaded her song entitled “Mouthwash” because the 30 second preview on iTunes was such a tease.
